Prantij Kelavani Mandal-Prantij

Prantij Kelavani Mandal (PKM) was established as a public charity (Not for Profit Organization) in the year 1965. It is registered as a society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and as a public trust under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950.

On its establishment PKM took over a Gujarati medium school started by another trust in the year 1964 in the name and style of “Our Own High School” with one division of Std VIII. Over a period with upward and downward divisions getting added, it became a full fledged School from Kindergarten to Std. XII. The school is having three separate administrative set ups (!) for Our Own KG school (comprising Junior and Senior KG sections), (2) for Our Own Primary School from Std. I to VII (now from Std. V to VII) (3) for Secondary School and Higher secondary School from Std. VIII to XII (Std. VIII is now made part of Primary Section). The Higher Secondary Section is offering education in Arts and Commerce streams.

To make up the deficiency of higher education in science stream, PKM has started a separate self finance Science Stream section in the High School from 2008 A D onwards.

PKM has set up a self finance English Medium Primary School in the year 1992. Gradually it has become a full fledged school offering education from K G onwards to Std X.

PKM has also set up a separate Self Finance Gujarati Medium Primary School in the year 2004 A D which is providing education from Grade 1 to 8.

In between in the year 1984 PKM set up an Industrial Training Institute affiliated with National Council of Vocational Training(NCVT). Initially it was providing training in four traits Gradually it has started providing training in nine trades.

Roughly 2200+ students are studying in these institutes. KG and primary sections are catering mostly the local students. The High School is having students from the Prantij town local and the neighboring villages within 8 to 10 K Ms range.

Our Own High School is amongst the top five Schools of Sabarkantha District. It was designated as a nodal school for monitoring the government program for improving the quality of education imparted in 95 schools in the area. With the formation of small clusters of School Development Complexes, it is now overseeing the government program in 11 Schools forming part of a School Development Complex of the area. ITI has also a front ranking Grants in aid ITI of the state.
